Taxonomy:
Three races occur in Thailand;
1. Spilornis cheela ricketiii เหยี่ยวรุ้งพันธุ์จีน passage migrant
2. Spilornis cheela burmanicus, เหยี่ยวรุ้งพันธุ์พม่า passage migrant and breeding resident in Northern, North-east, South-East and Western Thailand.
3. Spilornis cheela malayensis, เหยี่ยวรุ้งพันธุ์ใต้ breeding resident in southern Thailand drom Surat thani southward.
